Muscat, Oman - In a significant boost to the region’s renewable energy sector, Q-SUN Solar has entered into a partnership with Bakarat Investment, an emerging Omani investor, to establish a vast solar PV cell and module production plant in Oman. This joint venture aims to develop a state-of-the-art facility with a 10-gigawatt (GW) capacity in Sohar, Oman.
The project will include 8 GW of PV module manufacturing and 2 GW of PV cell production, utilizing advanced technologies such as TOPCon and HJT. This initiative is set to capitalize on Oman’s abundant solar resources and its strategic position in the Middle East, facilitating the supply of solar PV modules to meet the region’s growing demand.
This collaboration aligns with Oman’s "Vision 2040" initiative, which emphasizes local manufacturing, technological advancement, and economic growth. The project is expected to create numerous jobs, promote knowledge transfer, and enhance Oman’s capabilities in the renewable energy sector. Qin Wenming, Chairman of Q-SUN Solar, highlighted that this investment underscores their commitment to driving the global PV industry through innovation and strategic partnerships.
Ahmed bin Saud Al Salmi, CEO of Bakarat Investment, noted that this partnership is a milestone for Oman’s renewable energy landscape, demonstrating their dedication to introducing cutting-edge technology and supporting the nation's transition to sustainable energy.
