As autumn gently paints Xuyong, the sunlight turns warm and pure. On the school rooftop, rows of deep-blue photovoltaic panels quietly capture the light, turning golden sunshine into a continuous stream of clean energy — bringing lasting hope and tranquility to the campus. This newly lit “Sunshine Campus” marks the first milestone of Q-SUN Solar for Good initiative, jointly realized by Q-SUN Solar and Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management EMBA students and alumni. It is both a reflection and a response to their shared dream of “empowering the nation through education.”

A Public Welfare Journey Rooted in Spirit and Legacy
The story begins with the Tsinghua SEM EMBA course “Walking China – Humanities Chapter: Retracing the Route of the National Southwest Associated University (NSAU)”. Along their journey through Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan, and Sichuan, participants experienced the indomitable spirit of NSAU — “Resilient and Unyielding, Striving Without Cease.” Nights of camping and heartfelt “Southwest Dialogues” deepened their conviction that education revitalizes the nation, inspiring them to turn this belief into concrete action.

Carrying this mission forward, Q-SUN Solar integrated clean energy with educational philanthropy — aiming to improve learning environments in rural schools, uphold “education as the foundation of national strength,” and practice “industry serving the nation.” Planting the seed of the Solar for Good program in Xuyong No.3 Middle School, Q-SUN Solar empowers education through renewable energy and embodies the values of responsibility, sustainability, and national progress.
As the main donor, Q-SUN believes that public welfare is not a one-time act of kindness but a long-term commitment rooted in responsibility. By bringing solar power to schools, Q-SUN not only generates clean electricity but also plants the seed of green development in the hearts of the next generation — conveying the NSAU spirit of perseverance, and the Tsinghua ethos of responsibility and contribution.
From Blueprint to Bright Roof — A “Sunshine Campus” in Four Weeks
Founded in 2014, Q-SUN has dedicated over a decade to advancing photovoltaic innovation under China’s dual carbon goals, driven by the mission of “Share Sunshine Value with the World.”The Xuyong No.3 Middle School Solar Station was completed from survey to grid connection in just four weeks, with a total investment of nearly RMB 500,000 and an installed capacity of 181.65 kW. Once operational, the project is expected to generate approximately 167,000 kWh of electricity annually, reduce CO₂ emissions by about 100 tons, and save the school roughly RMB 100,000–120,000 in electricity costs each year — achieving both environmental and economic benefits.

During construction, the Q-SUN engineering team overcame challenges such as roof adaptation, ground foundation treatment, and grid connection approvals — ensuring safe, efficient installation without disrupting daily teaching. The project also includes an intelligent O&M platform and local training, establishing a sustainable maintenance system.

Jiangsu Weier Metal Co., Ltd. donated key support structures for the station, exemplifying how collective goodwill from multiple partners strengthens this Sunshine Campus.
More Than Power — Nurturing Minds and Values
The meaning of this project extends beyond clean energy and cost savings; it lies in educating hearts and inspiring futures. At the grid connection ceremony, Xuyong No.3 Middle School presented Q-SUN with a commemorative plaque — a warm moment symbolizing gratitude, shared purpose, and the fusion of educational love with philanthropic power.

Q-SUN’s Solar for Good Program aims to use clean energy as a catalyst to enhance environmental awareness and sustainability education among young students. This project marks only the beginning — within the next year, Q-SUN plans to build around ten additional “Sunshine Campuses” in rural and under-resourced regions across China.
From Demonstration to New Horizon
The Xuyong No.3 Middle School Solar Project represents a key milestone in Q-SUN’s “Green Philanthropy 2.0” strategy. Going forward, Q-SUN will continue to deepen and expand its vision of green educational charity through:
- Model Replication: Promote the “Sunshine Campus” model nationwide, focusing on underserved areas.
- Green Education: Integrate “Solar + Environmental Education” to build sustainability demonstration campuses and inspire students’ sense of responsibility.
- Sustainable Philanthropy: Explore a “Solar Income → Education Fund” model, creating a self-reinforcing ecosystem of clean energy and talent cultivation.
- University–Enterprise Synergy: Empower Tsinghua EMBA alumni and broader social partners to turn insight into action — building bridges that connect urban and rural education, and co-developing a “Green Education + Tech for Good” path unique to China.
In the September sunlight of Xuyong No.3 Middle School, books and beams of light intertwine. The rays converging from Q-SUN’s solar panels not only illuminate classrooms and pages but also brighten young hearts with dreams of the future. With the enduring mission to “Share Sunshine Value with the World,” Q-SUN will continue to explore the intersection of rural education and clean energy — contributing to China’s and the world’s journey toward a sustainable future.
